Spring 2021 News

For over a year, the COVID-19 crisis presented huge challenges for our theatre. We are just now starting to see a glimmer of light at the end of this very long tunnel. That said, we have great hopes that we can produce the following in the 2021/2022 season :

On a First Name Basis* a delightful comedy by Norm Foster – Fall 2021
Waiting Room* a touching powerful drama by Diane Flacks – Winter 2022
Cat and the Canary* a mystery/comedy by John Willard – Spring 2022
(*subject to change)

You will notice that we have not included our annual Children’s show in the line-up. This is due to format that we usually use for this show (with children on mats, in very close proximity). It saddened us to do so, but given the current situation we feel it is the best course of action. If things improve so that we feel we confident that we can safely present it, we will reconsider to see if we can make it happen.

We look forward to the time when we can open wide the theatre doors and welcome you all back to another great season of theatre.

Stay safe!

Monday After The Miracle

By William Gibson

Directed by Sondra Learn
Produced by Penny Oliver

This sequel to “The Miracle Worker” takes place in Boston and continues the story of Helen Keller. Now 23 and Annie Sullivan, 37, share the joys of accomplishment, the long, slow process  of self-awareness, and the love that binds them. John Macy, a young English instructor from  Harvard is hired to help with the editing of Helen’s remarkable biography Annie falls in love with John and they marry.

In time, Annie finds her loyalties divided and Helen struggles with jealousy, loneliness and fear of abandonment. This is an emotionally charged, profound and rewarding story.

As the play ends, the two women accept the inescapable truth of their condition – that they are inextricably bound together and must find, in each other, whatever rewards life might bring.

The Beauty Queen Of Leenane

The Beauty Queen of Leenane

By Martin McDonagh

Directed by Maureen Dwyer
Produced by Michelle Spanik

Set in the village of Leenane in impoverished rural Ireland, this play title conjures up an image of Irish folklore, love and happy endings – nothing could be further from the truth. Although sometimes referred to as a comedy, it is also a ‘hit you where it hurts’ shocker. There is plenty of humour as well thanks to the deftly written, darkly poignant script. If you want an evening of intense theatre, this is the play for you.

Fueled by a poisonous mother-daughter relationship, the play grabs you and sucks out all hope. This play is not for the faint of heart, but it is an expertly crafted play It makes for an exciting evening of theatre that may well shock you.

The play centers around Maureen, a long suffering, 40 year old caring for her aging mother, Mag, who is best described as toxic, possibly even psychotic. The story twists and turns to keep our interest.
